Dr Andrea Winkler has prepared practical guidelines for management of astma and chronic obstructive lung disease (COLD). She was working in Haydom Lutheran Hospital.
Respiratory Quality Assurance Project was launched in 2005 together with Stanford internal medicine prof. Norman Olson. This part of the project continued until 2008. Still many skills are to be taught such as ventilation of newborn babies and adults in emergency situations. Global Health Ministries from USA donated brand-new oxygen concentrators, pulseoximetries and nebulizers to each ELCT hospital. The use of pulseoximetries was started in each hospital. Nebulizer therapy and asthma care was highlighted and guidelines given. Oxygen and nebulizers have saved many pneumonia children and patients with breathing problems.
